The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) wants you — to solve some of the military’s biggest challenges.
Several times throughout the year, the DOD’s various units, which include the Army, Navy, Air Force, Missle Defense Agency, and Special Operations Command, publish a list of their problems. Through the DOD’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, they look exclusively to small businesses to solve these problems.
The programs will provide funding of up to $1.5 million to support your research and development of possible solutions. If successful, it could lead to lucrative defense contracts for years to come. You retain intellectual property ownership, there’s no loss of equity, and you don’t have to repay the money.
Current military problems include:
- System Communications
- Infrared Hyperspectral Imaging System
- Guidance System on a Chip
- Dive Helmet Communication System
- Medical 3-D Printing
- Signal Processing for Layered Sensing
- Light-Weight Battery Storage Systems
