SoftWear Automation, a 2015 graduate of the Advanced Technology Development Center’s ATDC Signature program, received $4.5 million from CTW Venture Partners. The Atlanta-based robotics company, which has created autonomous sewn goods worklines for the home goods, footwear, and apparel industries, said it will use the funds to beef up development of its fully automated sewn good worklines for U.S. apparel production. The company also plans to hire 20 additional staff.
SoftWear Automation launched from Georgia Tech research and development in projects with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the Walmart Foundation. The company formed and grew Georgia Tech’s VentureLab incubator, which helps Institute faculty, researchers, staff, and students commercialize their research ideas into viable enterprises.
