LocalPrice, the only website that allows users to compare prices for everyday local services, is expanding to cover top US cities.
LocalPrice intends to improve how consumers find and select local services. For years, consumers have taken advantage of the web to comparison shop for products like electronics and cars. But when it comes to getting quotes for local services like refinishing floors or moving, consumers are stuck comparing service providers the old-fashioned way—by picking up the phone and calling around. LocalPrice offers comprehensive comparisons and pricing information for all service providers who list on the site. Unlike competing sites that focus on consumer reviews like Yelp, Angie’s List and YellowPages.com, LocalPrice compares providers based on objective criteria. These include their rates and the details of the services they offer.
Users of the site start with a list of local companies and apply filters to narrow the list down to the providers who meet their specific needs, e.g. Atlanta home security monitoring for under $20/month with short contracts and no land line required. They can then create side by side comparisons to compare providers along dozens of criteria.
LocalPrice covers two dozen categories of consumer services. The most recent version of LocalPrice enables any US business offering such a service to enroll online and immediately list on the site. The site is free to both users and businesses. LocalPrice generates revenue by offering sponsors preferred placement and enhanced profiles on the site.
Launched in Atlanta in 2008, LocalPrice will first expand to top US cities including: Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, St. Louis, and Washington DC
