Supply Chain Technology for a More Agile Logistics Infrastructure
Optimizing Commerce, From Product Flow to Global Efficiency
Georgia is the logistics capital of the United States, where supply chain technology startups and global logistics leaders headquartered in the state play a vital role in driving supply chain innovation and maintaining Georgia’s leadership in global commerce. Home to the world’s busiest airport, the fastest growing deepwater port, a second inland port opening in 2026, and a rail and interstate network that reaches 80% of the U.S. population, Georgia is uniquely positioned to deploy logistics technologies that set the pace for modern movement, connectivity, and operational excellence.
Supply chain technology is essential to the industry’s future yet remains one of the biggest hurdles for startups. The entrenched mindset of “this is how it’s always been done” often stifles innovation, especially in transportation and logistics. But that resistance can’t deter progress. Developing modern, scalable solutions is critical to moving the industry forward.
As Georgia’s technology incubator, one of ATDC’s differentiators is coaching supply chain tech startups as they develop solutions and scale their companies to be understood and embraced by historically low-tech organizations.
I’m Alex Rhodeen,
ATDC’s Supply Chain Tech Catalyst
After college, I joined the Army and served as a Military Police Officer and Drill Sergeant. After leaving the Army, I became the first employee at a startup, and quickly found similarities between military and startup life: every day is different; you must understand the mission and your role in achieving the mission; the task you don’t want to do – no one else wants to do either, so you just do it; in the absence of orders, take initiative; you must stay flexible physically and emotionally or you will break.
I’ve co-founded two supply chain tech startups, including Kanga, which went through ATDC and was acquired by GEODIS in 2016. I’ve lived the startup journey firsthand and believe founders benefit most from honest, experience-based feedback.
My advice for entrepreneurs:
“The most expensive decision is no decision.”
Scale and Strengthen Logistics Technology to Fortify the Global Supply Chain
The global supply chain is more vulnerable than ever before. With outside influences such as economic volatility, cybersecurity threats, labor shortages, and material disruptions, these challenges underscore the urgent need for innovation. Now is the time to scale logistics technology solutions that not only address these vulnerabilities but also future-proof the industry. Just as logistics is vital to Georgia’s economy, technology is essential to its resilience and growth.
