Join us at ATDC’s Retail Technology Meetup for the 2019 series about “The Future of Retail.” Once a month we meet to hear expert presentations and discuss the trends and technologies that are reshaping the future of retail in 2019 and beyond!

This month’s topic is:
Annie Eaton Retail Tech Meetup ATDC Jan 2019

While most people immediately think malls and apparel when we mention retail, but retail so much more that!

Retail includes grocery stores and supermarkets, department stores, specialty stores, discount stores, e-commerce stores, restaurants, auto parts stores, automobile dealerships, pharmacy/drug stores, convenience stores, home furnishing stores, etc.—basically, anything that sells finished products to the public is included in the retail industry.
And guess what? It’s all changing due to technology and new innovations!

The way people discover, explore, experience, and buy products is quickly changing and we’re up for the challenge. How about you?

  • Are you working on a new innovation for the retail industry?
  • Are you obsessed (or affected by) the “retail apocalypse”?
  • Are you interested in the exciting future of retail?

In 2017, the Retail Technology program was launched because ATDC at Georgia Tech is well-recognized for bringing together the brightest minds to apply new thinking and new technologies to industry challenges.

  • You don’t want to miss your chance to join us each month as we:
dive into the retail technologies of the future
  • watch demonstrations from new retail technology startups from Atlanta’s ecosystem
  • discuss the challenges and opportunities of building a retail technology company in Atlanta

Founders that have created, are creating, or thinking about creating technologies that will transform the retail industry, as well as retailers, industry professionals and experts, technologists, engineers, and other retail enthusiasts desiring to make an impact on the industry are strongly encouraged to attend these thought-provoking sessions to stir up your creativity in designing innovative solutions for THE FUTURE OF RETAIL.

    About the Class

Protecting Intellectual Property (IP) is certainly important, but where does fit in the many priorities of any Startup business? We will address this important question in a round table fashion where attendees are encouraged to share their IP journey.  At the roundtable we will have a successful startup CEO and attorneys/advisors who have shepherded many Startups in the past with IP. This class is for any Startup aiming for long term success and wishing to learn from and network with IP experts.

    What you will learn:

    • How does IP and employment intersect?
    • What are best practices for IP security that don’t include filing for a patent or copyright?
    • What are the dangers and pitfalls of ignoring IP questions (or spending too much time focused on them)?
