DLA Piper Corporate Partner Jeff Leavitt will provide a brief demystification of what goes on behind the closed doors of a Venture Capital Monday morning partner meeting and overview of the key points of a VC term sheet negotiation.

This will be followed by a mock term sheet negotiation when DLA Piper’s Brian Gordon joins Jeff as they take on the roles of “hardnosed VC” and “hopeful entrepreneur” to highlight the arguments made and positions staked in real life negotiations. An example term sheet will be distributed for the audience to follow along as terms are addressed and horse-traded.

This presentation and skit is presented each year at the Venture Capital Institute, Kauffman Fellows Negotiation Module and Guayacan Venture Group workshop.
