America Online founder Steve Case is bringing his Rise of the Rest tour to Atlanta and hosting a $100,000 startup pitch competition on May 7.
Eight startups are competing, including ATDC Select Company Groundfloor, a lending club for real estate, and Zyrobotics, a VentureLab company that provides inclusive mobile technologies for educational and accessible play.
Case, now chairman and chief executive of Revolution, will hold the competition at Opera in Midtown.
Along with Case, contest judges will include:
- Paul Judge of Pindrop Security and Monsieur
- David Hall of Revolution Ventures
- David Cummings of Pardot and Atlanta Tech Village
- Bridgette Beam of Google
Case will be in Atlanta for a day-long visit with entrepreneurs, investors, CEOs, political leaders, and others in the Atlanta startup community as part of his tour, which includes stops in Richmond, Raleigh-Durham, Charleston, and New Orleans.
He’ll discuss the challenges and opportunities facing entrepreneurs and how this is the best moment in recent history to start and scale a business in Atlanta in a fireside chat that also will be held at Opera. The chat and competition will be followed by a happy hour networking event.
