Vitrue, a social media marketing company, announced today a $17 million Series C raise with several new and existing investors including Comcast Interactive participating in the round. Vitrue is planning use the funds to expand geographically and hire as many as 150 new employees in 2011.
Additionally, former Facebook Vice President of Global Sales and 20-year marketing veteran Mike Murphy is joining Vitrue as Special Advisor to the CEO. Mike will advise Vitrue on global relations strategy, expansion and emerging trends, and social media marketing technologies.
Vitrue’s social relationship management platform supports a variety of applications that enable brands and marketing agencies to manage social media marketing. Brands including Harley Davidson, McDonald’s, and Disney use the Vitrue platform.
The company is cash-flow positive and currently manages over 2,500 Facebook Pages and Twitter accounts representing 450 million fans and followers in 47 countries.
