SolidFire, an ATDC member company since July 2010, has raised $11 million from venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates and current investors Valhalla Partners and Novak Biddle Venture Partners. The funds will be used to prepare for a beta launch later this year.
If you have ever experienced the annoyance of lost revenue and momentum because your suddenly popular website crashed, you understand the limitations of cloud computing. SolidFire saw opportunity in the frustrations of traditional block storage and created a truly dynamic scaling solution for cloud computing providers. The SolidFire storage platform is a software system running on physical servers and using solid state drives to improve flexibility and response times to suddenly changing workloads.
Dave Wright, founder and CEO of SolidFire, is the upcoming guest speaker of Entrepreneur’s Night at ATDC. Prior to Solidfire Dave was the founder and CEO of Jungle Disk, the first commercial cloud storage and backup service built on the Amazon S3 cloud storage platform. Jungle Disk was acquired by Rackspace in 2008. Dave also is currently a partner at Shotput Ventures, a seed accelerator fund that focuses on capital-light web services companies.
