AutomatedLabTech, a company in the Advanced Technology Development Center’s ATDC Accelerate portfolio, won the Startup Runway Foundation’s judges’ choice award and its $10,000 prize.
AutomatedLabTech’s software platform uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to aid researchers in predicting when an experiment is complete and preventing equipment failures.
The Startup Runway Foundation’s Spring Showcase is the largest pitch event for underrepresented technology founders. It supports the Startup Runway Foundation’s mission to connect top performing women and minority startups with seed-stage investors.
Founded by Tony Hoang in 2017, AutomatedLabTech’s Internet of Things (IoT) gateway technology will allow active monitoring of common scientific experiments — gel electrophoresis, cell growth inside incubators, freezers, and fume hoods, among others. Using smart phones, the company’s technology allows scientists to plug-and-play a wide variety of sensors — camera, cell growth, temp, and gas — into its platform depending on clients’ specific needs.
The company’s technology has the potential to reduce experimental time and samples waste, which could expedite the development of new novel drugs, vaccines, and cures.
