Join us for Prototyping March
“They slow us down to speed us up. By taking the time to prototype our ideas, we avoid costly mistakes such as becoming too complex too early and sticking with a weak idea for too long.”
— Tim Brown, CEO & President of IDEO

Prototyping is an experimental process for giving ideas tangible form for use in customer discovery and testing technical feasibility. Prototyping means taking your idea, making it tangible, taking the tangible form of your idea, testing it, learning from those tests and then revising the product or service, creating a new prototype and testing it again – All in the interest of making a better product in the customer’s opinion. Prototyping is a tool for making mistakes at low cost per mistake, learning and growing from those mistakes, instead of making costly errors further into the product development process or after the product is market.
Too many companies spend a lot of time and money on their prototypes without really understanding the goal of having a prototype (yes, a cool prototype helps with investors, but it can help a lot more if you have the research from previous prototypes to show why you built your product the way you built it).
Learn to make prototyping a core skill at your company. Have the skills you need to succeed more quickly, at lower cost, and stay successful! Join us for Prototyping March, a month dedicated to building prototypes, testing, learning, iterating, and doing it all again.
We will have discussions and roundtables on what Prototyping is, prototyping tools, materials, and methods, the questions to ask with your prototype, and because this month is sponsored by the 5G Connected Future Incubator, we will have a demonstration of how to connect a device to the 5G network so that you can send and receive data!

- 3/9: Prototype to Production and Overcoming Challenges Along the Way – Prototype March Kick-off presentation
The skills required to develop a prototype for any product, whether it be hardware, software, biomedical device, or complex tool, are usually much different than the skills needed to make a robust, dependable, low-cost, production version of that prototype. The session will explore some of the pitfalls to avoid and some of the new skills that your company will need to attain to produce your technology at scale.
