Serial technology entrepreneur Jeff Haynie, co-founder of Appcelerator, a leading platform for rapidly developing native and web-based mobile applications and cloud services, will be the keynote speaker at the 2016 ATDC Startup Showcase on May 12.

The ATDC Startup Showcase is an annual event that connects entrepreneurs, investors, and tech leaders with some of the most promising and emerging startups in Georgia. The 2016 ATDC Startup Showcase, which will be held at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center, will feature more than 60 startups from Atlanta, Savannah, Athens, and Augusta.

Haynie, an Atlanta native, was the co-founder and chief technology officer of Vocalocity, a 2005 graduate of the Advanced Technology Development Center’s Signature program. The telecommunications company, which was acquired by Vonage, was the 100th startup to graduate from ATDC Signature.

“I’m excited to come back to ATDC and meet with the entrepreneurs at the 2016 ATDC Startup Showcase,” Haynie said. “The Showcase is always a great reflection of all the great ideas and technologies coming out of Georgia and the solutions that entrepreneurs have come up with.”

Appcelerator, which was a Money Tree Top 25 Venture Capital member company and raised almost $100 million in venture capital, was recently was acquired by Axway, where he now serves as executive vice president and reports to the CEO.

In addition to being a serial technology entrepreneur, Haynie is an angel investor, frequent writer and speaker at industry events. He also has worked on several standard committees, including the Internet Engineering Task Force and the World Wide Web Consortium. He also is a core contributor to a number of important open source technologies such as Titanium, JBoss, and OpenVXI.

A veteran who served with distinction in the U.S. Navy, Haynie was an active part of the Atlanta startup scene before relocating to Silicon Valley in 2008, but he still spends a lot of time advising and investing in Atlanta entrepreneurs.

“Jeff, who has been one of my mentors since 1999, has really made a mark in the Atlanta startup community and the broader technology sector nationally and internationally,” said Jen Bonnett, ATDC’s acting general manager. “His success as an entrepreneur and passion for the startup life makes him the perfect speaker to our community. He is a hometown hero and inspiration to our entrepreneurs.”
