As CEO of a growing startup aimed at revolutionizing the way health care providers engage and retain patients, Greg Foster knows a thing or two about the healthcare industry. And following a recent brain tumor diagnosis and treatment, the entrepreneur is now a strong proponent of maintaining an appropriate work-life balance. At Entrepreneur’s Night this evening, the co-founder of BrightWhistle – an ATDC member company set to graduate this spring – will share his startup journey, ranging from acquiring patients online to being one.

“I will talk about the BrightWhistle story and the distinction between entrepreneurial scientists and entrepreneurs,” said Foster, previewing tonight’s presentation. “And I will discuss the need for entrepreneurs to balance life and work in the context of my cancer diagnosis.”

BrightWhistle is a first-in-class Digital Patient Acquisition solution designed for health care providers seeking to efficiently acquire high value patients through search and social media. Foster co-founded the startup following years of experience in the media and technology industries. Most recently, he served as Partner at Noro-Moseley Partners, a local venture capital firm, with a concentration on early-stage digital media companies. He has also held management roles for other successful startups. At iXL, he served as Vice President and General Manager of the Madrid, Spain office and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for the Atlanta office. At Silverpop Systems, he was Vice President of Business and Corporate Development.

His advice to young entrepreneurs?

“Work for another entrepreneur before you start your own company,” he said.

Entrepreneur’s Night takes place the third Thursday of every month at ATDC Headquarters. Running from 6 to 7:30 p.m., the monthly event provides young startups with the chance to hobnob with other industry players and hear success stories from a distinguished ATDC entrepreneur. The networking event is free for ATDC members, so register now to attend.
