Thiago is an accomplished FinTech and Connected Hardware entrepreneur, advisor, and investor. He has a background of launching products in both consumer technology and financial Business-to-Business industries.
Thiago’s specialty is in building and advising teams and driving hardware/software product and brand development from conception to completion. As a thought leader in IoT and mobile payment spaces, and as a media-trained public speaker, Thiago has regularly appeared on Bloomberg Surveillance, CNN, Fox News, and the BBC News. He is a frequent speaker on payments and IoT.
Prior to joining ATDC, Thiago served as the CEO and co-founder of Stratos Technologies, a connected card platform that allows consumers to carry just one payment card that stores all their credit, debit, and gift card information.
Founded in 2012, Stratos raised more than $10 million in seed and Series A capital funding to develop and commercialize Stratos. Investors included Hyde Park Venture Partners, Resonant Venture Partners, Toba Capital, and Western Technology Investment. Stratos was later acquired in 2015.
Thiago has also served in various roles in Venture, Think Tank and Engineering Program Management at the U.S. Department of Defense, including with the Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center at the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, and the U.S. Department of Energy, where he worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratories and the Sandia National Laboratories. Thiago also worked overseas in research capacities at the Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel.
A resident of Atlanta, he holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Vanderbilt University. He also was a fellow in the National Fellowship Program in Plasma Physics and Fusion Energy Sciences at Princeton University. Thiago came into the national spotlight as a teen for his research in plasma physics; successfully built a fusion reactor in his home in Rochester, Michigan.
